The turmeric is cultivated on dedicated farms in Yanbaru, the lush subtropical northern tip of Okinawa — a region recognized within a UNESCO World Heritage area. More than 270 local partner farmers grow it without pesticides or synthetic chemicals, in volcanic soil under subtropical rain.
Two varieties, side by side. Okinawan tradition values both harvests: Spring Ukon (wild turmeric, Curcuma aromatica), prized for its aromatic essential oils, and Autumn Ukon (*Curcuma longa*), the variety naturally richer in curcumin — the compound turmeric is best known for. The capsules blend both; the tea is pure autumn harvest.
Cleaned with water, not chemicals.
